Advanced Placement United States History

This course requires vigorous reading, writing, thinking and study skills with an average of one hour study per hour of class.  The course covers United States history from approximately 1500 to today and studies a variety of topics in depth such as economic development, evolution of U.S., state, and municipal civics/government, sectionalism, theories and practice of civil disobedience, the impact of wars on society, literary and intellectual movements and others. Students enrolling in this class will also have the option of participating in the CU Succeed Gold Program and can potentially earn up to 6 hours of CU credit. Information on this program is listed on page 5.  Emphasis is on preparation for the AP exam.
