This lab-based course is designed with the college bound, non-science major in mind, and for students that are interested in the earth sciences. The goal of this course is to provide an activity-based learning experience with an emphasis on critical thinking and interpretive skills. Topics include mineralogy, rock cycle, mass extinction, rock types, topographic mapping, geologic history, fossil correlation and Colorado geology. It will provide students with a basic understanding of mineralogy, physical and historical geology.
