Honors Biology

This is an accelerated course designed for students intending to go to a four-year university. Emphasis will be on the molecular basis of biological interactions. Areas of concentration will be: cellular structure and function, bioenergetics, ecological systems, genetics, evolution, and diversity of organisms. These topics will be addressed in greater depth than in Biology. Students will use scientific methods to conduct laboratory investigations and will understand science as a process and way of knowing. In addition, students will learn the biological knowledge important for being an informed and contributing citizen in today's society.
