Erie High Choral Director Janay Bird received the callback results for Colorado All State Jazz auditions.
Any junior or senior in the state of CO can audition for CAS Jazz! This year, 198 students from 37 schools auditioned. Only 30 girls and 30 boys are selected for callbacks, and from that only 32 TOTAL (16 boys 16 girls) will be accepted! It's very competitive for high school singers in Colorado!
Erie High is proud to say that of the 8 students who submitted auditions, 3 were selected for callbacks:
Alia Brand, Hannah Brink, and Olivia Stecina!
The following are some data about other area schools' entries:
Erie had a higher percentage of students accepted for callbacks than 26 of the schools!
Those that had a higher percentage of students accepted include schools like Denver School of the Arts, Fairview, Grandview, Regis, and Castle View - all schools with 2+ choir directors. Three schools had fewer numbers so a higher percentage: Montrose with 1/1 students called back, Castle View with 2/2 called back, and both Regis Jesuit and Poudre with 1/2 called back.
Erie had the 7th highest number of auditions submitted in the state!
Erie was the only school in SVVSD to have students selected to call backs!
Of course, we hope our students are actually accepted into CAS Jazz after their call back audition held on November 11th at Smoky Hill High School, but it's a great feat that they were actually accepted to attend the callback! Please join me in wishing these students good luck in their live audition.
