Erie Supports the Houston Community

Dear Parents:
We feel fortunate to live in Colorado right now with the floods and fires happening across our nation.  Sometimes it is hard to know how to help, and if we make donations, where do they actually go?
We have an opportunity to sponsor families at a school in Houston.  All five St. Vrain schools in Erie (Black Rock, Erie El, Red Hawk, Erie MS, Erie HS) are joining together to make a difference!
Park View Intermediate School is located on the Southeast side of Houston. Many of the families who attend this school are located in neighborhoods that are very low and have a history of flooding.  A high number of families have been displaced in shelters.  Park View in a Title 1 school and has an enrollment of 658 students, with 86% labeled "at risk".  The staff is desperate to help their families through this experience and support them in recovery.
If you would like to donate directly to a family who has been impacted by the flooding, we offer this opportunity to you.  We will be collecting gift cards to the following:
  • Walmart
  • Lowe's Home Improvement
  • Home Depot
We will collect these gift cards until Friday, September 15th.  Please write the amount of the gift card directly on the card to help them make decisions when distributing the cards.
The staff at Park View will help disseminate the gift cards to families in need.  In addition, if you would like to donate "goods" to any of the families, they are seeking diapers, blankets, pillows, and new shoes (boys and girls for ages 12-15).  They are also in need of toiletry items such as tooth brushes, tooth paste, mouthwash, bathing soap, shampoo, combs/brushes.  If your family would like to ship items to families at Park View, please contact me ( and I will be happy to provide you with further information.
The staff at Park View asked me to share their sincere appreciation for considering ways to support their families!
Thank you!
