New Head Track Coach Brandon Havard's Biography

Brandon Havard has spent over 8 years as an NCAA Division I and high school Track & Field Coach.  
After graduating from Prairie View A&M University, where he attended on a Track & Field scholarship, Coach Havard was hired as a Graduate Assistant Coach for Men’s Track & Field, and later as an Assistant Coach.  During his time at Prairie View A&M, as an athlete and a coach, he played a key role in three Track & Field conference championships and two Cross-Country conference championships. 
After his success at Prairie View A&M, Coach Havard was hired as the Assistant Coach for Women’s Track & Field at Texas Southern University.  While at Texas Southern University, Coach Havard helped lead the team to multiple Top 3 finishes in the Southwestern Athletic Conference in both indoor and outdoor Track & Field. Furthermore, he also coached multiple athletes who qualified and competed in the NCAA Division I Regional Track meet.  
Most recently Coach Havard was a teacher and coach for the San Antonio Independent School District. There he taught math at Estrada Achievement Center and served as the Assistant Coach for Girls’ Basketball, and Girls’ Track & Field at Sidney Lanier High School.  While at Sidney Lanier High School, he achieved great success in both programs, including earning district championships in basketball and molding several district champions in Track & Field.  Coach Havard also opened doors, enabling several students the opportunity to further their education beyond high school, including two students who signed with Prairie View A&M University Cross-Country and Track & Field teams.  
Throughout all of his coaching assignments, Coach Havard’s #1 goal and top priority has always been ensuring all of his student athletes reach their educational goals, and either graduate from college or go on to college to further their education.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, and coaching his own kids in various sports.  He also enjoys watching sports, hunting, fishing, and teaching children about an active lifestyle.
