I am pleased to inform you that we have finalized hiring for the teaching positions we added due to the growth of our student population:
We have hired Barb Hillstrom, a retired math educator from Erie High School, to teach three of our new math sections. Additionally, Mrs. Singh, Mr. Hicks, and Mrs. Panakhyo will each pick up one section of math, meaning that we will have experienced, veteran math teachers in the classroom with our students.
The EHS counseling team has completed the schedule changes necessary for adding class sections to our school schedule. Please take a few minutes this evening to check schedules on Infinite Campus as they may have changed. On Wednesday, September 2nd these changes will go into effect.
First of all, please remember that Wednesday, September 2nd is a PLC/Late Start Day. Buses will run 2 1/2 hours later than their usual time so that teachers may meet in Professional Learning Communities.
Secondly, because of recent enrollment increases due to growth in our area, Erie High School is adding some additional class sections to our schedule to reduce class sizes.
In last week’s update, I shared briefly about the tremendous growth in our community and its impact on Erie High School. Erie is a great place to live, and many wonderful families are moving here to enjoy the quality of life and education we know so well.
I am pleased to inform you that we have received additional staffing as a result of this growth.
I hope you are taking some time to enjoy a few barbecues during the long and warm summer nights. Although the start of school is still off in the distance, we are getting excited about some of the changes coming to Erie High School in the fall. Here are a few of the steps we are taking to move Erie High to the next levels of excellence:
Good Morning Erie Tigers: We had a great last day of school with our seniors last Thursday. Today we begin the final week of classes. Please note the following important details: Final exams are this week. Here is the schedule:
As we approach the final weeks of the 2014-15 school year, we are are encouraging students to finish the year by maintaining strong academic engagement. This consists of good attendance, being prepared for each class, and completing assignments, assessments, and studying in a timely fashion. We are also encouraging students to continue communicating with their teachers, especially if they are looking to improve a grade or need to complete make up work.
March is already in like a lion! There are a lot of exciting things happening at EHS, including the beginning of our spring sports seasons (girls soccer, girls golf, baseball, and track and field). We are hoping the weather warms up so we can get our student athletes outside to practice and compete.
Please take a look at the following updates and celebrations:
