Principal's Update - March 24th, 2015

Good Afternoon EHS Families: Please take a look at the following updates and, as always, let me know if you have questions or suggestions:

1. The spirit of democracy is alive and well at Erie High School. This week and next week prospective student leaders for the 2015-16 school year will present speeches and engage in moderated debates in front of our freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. Student elections will follow these events. On Friday, March 27th seniors will have a one hour free block (10:05 - 11:05 am) during the student speeches and debates. Seniors are not required to stay at school, but they are welcome to study in the library or junior/senior lounge at this time. [Parents of seniors: Please email Loretta Hardin (hardin_loretta@svvsd.org) by Thursday if you have questions or you do not want your senior student to leave campus at this time.]

2. The ACT is coming soon. Every year at EHS a team of teachers conducts an ACT preparation day for our juniors. All juniors take this very important college entrance assessment in April. On Wednesday, April 1st juniors will follow this special schedule:**7:25 am - 12:35 pm: ACT preparation classes12:35 pm - 1:40 pm: Lunch1:40 - 2:25 pm: Block 8**We are providing breakfast burritos for our juniors' early start to the day. Please note, all other students follow the normal PLC/Late Start schedule (Block 5 begins at 10:00 am).

3. Is your family moving over the summer? If you are moving out of state or to a different school for the 2015-2016 school year we would appreciate an email to our registrar, Toni Salz (salz_toni@svvsd.org), by Friday, March 27th. This will allow us adequate time to prepare your student's transcripts and school records before the end of the school year.  It is a pleasure working with our awesome students and families. Thank you for your support of Erie High School and GO TIGERS!

Best Regards,
