Principal's Update - Thursday, April 16th

Good Afternoon Parents & Students:

As we approach the final weeks of the 2014-15 school year, we are are encouraging students to finish the year by maintaining strong academic engagement. This consists of good attendance, being prepared for each class, and completing assignments, assessments, and studying in a timely fashion. We are also encouraging students to continue communicating with their teachers, especially if they are looking to improve a grade or need to complete make up work.

Mr. Stecina does an exceptional job updating the school website and sending out parent emails, but April and May are the busiest months of the year in a high school so checking the school calendar weekly is a good suggestion. Two assessment items are of note. Next week, high schools in St. Vrain complete the last bit of PARCC testing and on April 28th, juniors in Colorado will take the ACT assessment. The ACT is the single most important assessment influencing a student's post-high school future.

Because of the tremendous growth of our student population, we are discussing a slight modification to our school schedule next year as follows:

  • Block 1/5: 7:25-8:50 am
  • Block 2/6: (including SSR) 9:00 - 10:45 am
  • Lunch: 10:45 - 11:25 am
  • Block 3/7: 11:25 - 12:50 pm
  • Block 4/8: 1:00 - 2:25 pm

This schedule will allow us to open a third lunch line and better accommodate the large number of freshmen in our incoming class next fall. If you would like to provide us with suggestions, questions, or feedback about this schedule, please feel free to stop by school, call, or email ( We will update parents and students on a final decision in the coming weeks.

As always, we appreciate the tremendous support of our families. Thank you for all you do and GO TIGERS!

Best Regards,
