PSAT Testing, October 14th

Erie High School will be offering the PSAT, or Practice SAT, for interested Juniors on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 7:25 a.m. in the small gym. We will reserve some spots for Sophomores who are interested in taking the test as well.

The cost for the test is $17. Please bring a check made out to Erie High School to the counseling office. Students may not register for the test without payment. We have limited spots so students who wait to register may miss out. The deadline for registration is Friday, Oct. 9.

The PSAT serves as a practice test for the SAT and ACT college entrance exams. While the PSAT is not required, nothing provides better preparation for students than taking practice tests that allow students to familiarize themselves with exam formats and testing under timed conditions. The PSAT score reports also provide important feedback on how to improve testing skills in different subject areas. Lastly, the PSAT is the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship competition, which provides over $36 million in scholarships every year. We have had a number of our students qualify as semifinalists over the years for this program, while others were commended for their high scores.

Please see this presentation for more information about the PSAT.
