Unified Sports Begins at Erie High

When Assistant Principal and Athletic Director Justin Carpenter came to EHS from his previous school he brought knowledge of an experience which benefitted students of all types: Unified Sports.

Unified Sports teams are coed teams made up of students who have special needs and traditional students or partner athletes to provide all students the opportunity to be involved in sports and even compete against other teams.  Unified Sports are an outreach to the Erie community from Special Olympics.

EHS is currently involved in basketball season for Unified Sports and the team recently began playing games against other schools with similar programs.  Attendees at the game were able to experience the fun that the students were having and the treat of their big smiles and feelings of success.  The game on Tuesday of this week ended up a barn burner with Erie finishing just short of the final score of the Mead Mavericks, but it went down to the wire and the excitement was palpable.

Please come out to enjoy one of these games and support Erie High School's Unified Athletes in their drive to have fun and take achievement to the next level on the basketball court!
