Interested in Tutoring and/or Mentoring?

We are actively looking for students who would like to serve as tutors and mentors for the 2021 Summer Jump Start Program.  Jump Start is a two-week, transition program for rising 9th graders at EHS. Participants engage in fun transition activities, as well as get a jump on high school curriculum and credit with sessions in Algebra 1 and English 9. We are also working on implementing some fun Friday activities.  This is where our mentors and tutors come in! Teachers will be leading each class with instruction and activities. We would LOVE to have tutors (YOU) in each class to work with small groups and some one-on-one support as well as serve as role models as students get to know EHS. No experience is necessary! We will train and support you with whatever you need within the role of a tutor/mentor. The goal of the program is to give this group of incoming freshmen a positive and fun start to Erie High School.  Here are the details:

  • When: July 26 – August 6 (Monday – Friday) from 9am-3pm; You can volunteer for 1/2 the day or the full day. Training on July 26 from 10:30-2 and lunch is included.
  • Where: Erie High School
  • Compensation: Students who volunteer all 10 days can earn between 0.5-1.0 elective credits! (Students who volunteer 1/2 the day can earn 0.5 credits, and students who volunteer the full day can earn 1.0 credits). Not to mention you can earn up to 60 hours of volunteer experience, which is a GREAT resume builder for college and job applications.

If you are interested, please CLICK HERE to complete the application!  The application deadline is Thursday, 4/29, and group interviews will be held the week of 5/3.  Please reach out to Amanda Ferguson ([email protected] or room C209) or Keri Mitchell ([email protected] or the counseling office) for questions or additional information.
