Erie High School
Community Update – 12.02.2022
Dear Erie High School families,

I hope that you and your family are doing well and had a great first week back from Thanksgiving Break.  The period between Thanksgiving and Winter Break is an exciting, vibrant time in our school, and this year is no different.

As we approach Final Exams from December 20 – 22, I encourage our students to begin preparations during the final few weeks of the school year.  Students are most successful in cumulative final exams when quality learning and studying has occurred throughout this semester.  I hope that our students will take advantage of the remaining opportunities they have to solidify their learning and review for important end of semester exams.

With that in mind, there are several additional opportunities students have to gain support from teachers and students in preparation for final exams.

  • Achievement Acceleration Academy: In an effort to support a successful learning environment for all students at Erie High School, we have created an academic plan for students who may need additional support in Math and English. Academic student support in English and Math will begin on Tuesday, December 6th in the following departments:
  • Math: Monday/Wednesday 3-4 pm
    • Sessions on 12/7, 12/12, 12/14, 12/19
    • Room S104 & S105
  • English: Tuesday/Thursday 3-4 pm
    • Sessions on 12/6, 12/8, 12/13, 12/15
    • Room C100 & C101
  • This program will continue once students return back to school in 2023.
  • Cocoa & Cram:  The “Cocoa and Cram” event is coming back to EHS this semester to help prepare our students for upcoming finals. On December 13th from 3-4:30, teachers and upperclassmen will be available for tutoring and assistance to our underclassmen as they prepare for finals. We know that finals can be stressful for students, so we want to provide a study space where students can get some extra help before their test! Cocoa and cookies will be provided as students cram for finals!
  • Students can always make arrangements individually with teachers from all departments to get help/support outside of class time as needed.

I wish all of our students the very best in a strong conclusion to the 1st semester.  With only 11 more days of learning remaining before finals, this is an important time for students to dial it up a notch for a strong finish!

Annual Erie High School Food Drive, sponsored by the National Honor Society

The annual EHS Food Drive sponsored by Erie High School’s National Honor Society brings in food for those in our community who need it.  This is an outstanding opportunity for our great community to contribute to help those in need during the holiday season.  Students can bring food in to donate and drop it off in their 6th period class. If a student does not have a 6th period class, drop off is available in the EHS main office.

For our parents/guardians – we ask for your partnership in supporting your students in contributing to this important cause. Please feel free to pack up any extra non-perishable items you have at home and send them with your student to school. If there is too much for them to bring, please drop your donated food items off at the Erie High School Main Office.

There will also be drop off locations in the community at local businesses. Thank you in advance for helping the Erie community take care of its own!

Thank you for your continued support of your child(ren) and our school community. I appreciate your commitment to the success of our school.

Sincerely,
Josh Griffin
Erie High School Principal
