Community Update

December 16, 2022

Dear Erie High School families,

As we quickly approach the end of the first semester, I want to sincerely thank you for your continued support of your child(ren) and our school, as we work together to advance great academic success and personal development in our students.  We wish all of our students the very best in the successful completion of their 1st-semester finals from December 20 – 22.  I am very proud of the outstanding achievements of our students, as well as the hard work and dedication of our teachers and staff.

School Safety & Security
As communicated via our school-wide email system on Thursday, December 15, Erie Police Department personnel responded to an incident involving a tip regarding a student in potential distress.  As a result of this incident, we placed our school in a Hold status, which allowed our law enforcement partners, in partnership with school staff and administration, to respond to the concern in a timely manner.  I understand that this situation may have impacted students and staff in our school in different ways, and I encourage our community members to reach out directly to our administrative team for any additional support that they may need.

As a school leadership team, faculty and staff, and community, we are fully committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone in our community.  At Erie High School, we are fortunate to have the support of a dedicated safety/security team, outstanding school counselors, and a strong partnership with the Erie Police Department. Additionally, the partnerships between EHS staff and our students, teachers and staff, and families are integral to sustaining a safe school environment and supportive culture.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support in educating your child(ren).  This is a very strong community, and I feel fortunate to serve as the principal of this great school.  If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out to me directly at [email protected].

Sincerely,
Josh Griffin
