January 13, 2023
Dear Erie High School Families,
Thank you for your support of a great first week to start the 2nd semester of the 2022-2023 school year. It was great to welcome our students back from Winter Break on Monday, and our semester is off to a strong start. I hope that your child(ren) had a great week both inside and outside the classroom.
This week, our students learned a lot about the course offerings and registration process for the 2023-2024 school year. I appreciate the engagement of our students in this process, and I am grateful to our counselors, teachers, and administrators for leading a thoughtful, informative process to prepare students for registration.
Course selection is one of the most important processes in our school. It offers our students an opportunity to consider an array of different options in core curricular areas, world languages, art, music, performing arts, and PE, as well as the robust opportunities that exist within our SVVSD system, including the CETC and Innovation Center programs. The courses students complete during high school have a huge impact on their personal, academic, and professional future.
I encourage our students to consider their passions, goals, and interests in the process of requesting courses for next year. As a large school, we are fortunate to offer a wide range of courses in many different areas. Students should take this opportunity to align their academic coursework with their personal and academic interests. I also encourage students to challenge themselves in this process, considering the numerous Honors, AP, and college-level courses available to them.
These course registration decisions are important to our students, and as a result, I hope that you have the opportunity to discuss this process with your child(ren). By collaborating with your student(s), you can support them to be thoughtful and open-minded in the course selection process. Please note that the deadline for students to complete their course selection requests in Infinite Campus is January 31st.
Thank you for your continued and ongoing support of your child(ren) and our school. I hope that you all have a great weekend and that you enjoy the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.
Sincerely,
Josh Griffin
Erie High School Principal
