Dear Erie High School Families,
I enjoyed a great first full week of the 2023-2024 school year. It was great to see our students and teachers settle into their routines and accelerate learning, and I enjoyed several opportunities to see our students thrive in athletics and the visual and performing arts. I am proud of our students for their commitment to learning and growth and I appreciate the hard work and dedication of our teachers and staff to teach, support, and mentor our students.
Thank you to the families that attended Back to School Night on Thursday evening. I enjoyed the opportunity to see so many of our Erie High School families. This is an important chance for families to connect directly with our incredible teachers and to learn more about your child’s experience in our school.
This week, we completed four safety drills to help preparesupport students and staff in the event of an emergency. The drills included practice for evacuation, shelter-in-place, and secure and lockdown situations. These drills are important for our students and staff to ensure preparedness for any emergency situation that may arise in or near our school in the future. Parent and family partnership is an important element of school safety – thank you for engaging with your child(ren) in promoting a safe, secure school environment.
We encourage all students, staff, and families to notify school personnel immediately with any concerns regarding school safety. Additionally, we are fortunate to have access to Safe2Tell, where students and community members can provide timely reporting of concerns regarding safety and security. Safe2Tell can be accessed online or by phone at 1-877-542-7233.
Our fall sports programs are off to a great start. I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to attend several different sporting events to start the year, and I’m proud of our student-athletes for their hard work and dedication to success this year. It is always great to see the outstanding support of our community at these events – I encourage our families and community members to keep up with athletic events through our official athletic calendar.
Thank you for your continued partnership in support of your child’s success at Erie High School. I hope that you and your family have an outstanding weekend!
Sincerely,
Josh Griffin
