Community Update Erie High School Education Foundation

Dear Erie High School Families,

As I approach the conclusion of my 3rd full month in my role as Erie High School principal, I continue to be uplifted and encouraged by the robust support we receive from our community.  We are fortunate to have hard-working students, dedicated teachers & staff, and supportive families throughout our community.  This is a strong community working together to ensure we create an environment where all students can thrive as people, students, athletes, artists, and performers.

Last week, I attended my 2nd Erie High School Education Foundation meeting.  This foundation board of directors is composed of an incredible group of Erie High School students, parents, and community members focused on supporting Erie High School students and graduates with their postsecondary opportunities.  Additionally, the foundation supports Erie High School faculty/staff members with grants to support classroom resources and professional development.

In 2022, The EHS Education Foundation offered over $100,000 in scholarships to members of the Erie High School Class of 2022 and recent Erie High School graduates.  This generous and remarkable support of our students – both past and present – is an incredible tribute to the significant impact the Foundation makes throughout our community.

I encourage the Erie High School Class of 2023 and recent EHS graduates to stay tuned to forthcoming announcements for the application process for the EHS Education Foundation scholarships for this year.  There are many opportunities for our students to receive financial support for their future studies through the Foundation- whether that may be in a two-year, four-year, or vocational program.

The Foundation is fortunate to have strong partnerships throughout the Erie community, and many individual, private, and corporate benefactors have contributed to the Foundation over the years.  One goal of the Foundation is to ensure its stability and longevity, so that this robust support of our students can continue in perpetuity.  As such, we encourage Erie High School families to consider how you can support this important organization.  There are opportunities for interested individuals to volunteer to support the Foundation and/or contribute financially to the fundraising efforts of the Foundation.  No contribution is too small to make an impact on the Foundation, and in turn, many current and former Erie High School students.

Thank you for your ongoing, steadfast support as we continue through this semester of the 2022-2023 school year.  The year is off to a great start and as we proceed through the midway portion of the semester, I am excited to see the great learning, performance, and achievements of our students!

Sincerely,

Josh Griffin
