Hello.

Please read this message in its entirety for important information regarding the upcoming practice PSAT9, practice PSAT10, and PSAT/NMSQT(11) students are preparing to take on Wednesday, October 12. The PSAT/NMSQT is an opportunity for students to compete for over $30 million in college scholarships. Taking these exams throughout 9th, 10th, and 11th grade leading up to the official SAT test in spring is an important step in preparing for a student’s best performance.

October 12 (Wednesday):

On October 12th, All 9th and 10th grade students will be taking a practice PSAT, and all 11th grade students will be taking the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT.) Students should arrive at school no later than the normal start time of 7:45 a.m. Pre-administration is from 7:45 to 8:00 a.m. Once testing begins, students will not be admitted to the test. Please help ensure your student arrives on time. Students will be finishing their tests between 11:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Students with an extended time accommodation should be finishing the test at approximately 1:00 pm – 1:30 pm. Students will be released for the day once their testing group has completed the test. Please note that testing is only scheduled for October 12. There will not be any make-up days for this fall testing.

We know many students that typically take the bus home will arrange alternative transportation on this day; however, bus transportation will be provided as normal in the morning but will run at 1:00pm and 2:45 pm in the afternoon. (Note: Bus transportation for October 12 will be for students already registered for bus transportation only.)

Lunch will be provided after testing in the form of a brown bag grab-and-go lunch with a limited quantity available as most students do not choose to buy lunch (free or reduced to those that qualify) on this day; however, it will be available for those that do.

On the day of testing students should bring the following materials.

9th and 10th grade students taking the practice PSAT:

  • Charged iPad – Students will be entering their answers in the Performance Matters app
  • 2 sharpened #2 pencils
  • Approved calculator
