Road Construction Update

Thank you for your continued partnership as we work closely with the Town of Erie on planned construction to County Road 5 and surrounding intersections. As you may know, the Town of Erie has planned significant improvements to the roadways and pedestrian walkways around our schools to improve safety and accommodate continued rapid growth in our community. Please click here to learn more about the Town of Erie’s construction plans for County Road 5. While the Town is working to minimize disruptions to school operations during the construction period, there will be some upcoming impacts to the traffic flows both in and out of our school parking lots.

Beginning Monday, March 14, County Road 5 will be closed to all traffic north of the intersection with Flora View Drive (at the Soaring Heights main entrance). Accordingly, we anticipate the following changes to traffic flows both before and after school:

Soaring Heights PK-8

  • Both entrances to the school parking lot will remain open, however, they will only be accessible for cars traveling north on County Road 5, or traveling east on the newly opened Flora View Drive.
  • Cars exiting the Soaring Heights parking lot will not be permitted to turn north, and will only be able to exit the parking lot going west or south.
  • If needed, the Erie Police Department will be on-site to assist with traffic flow and pedestrian safety for students who walk and/or bike to/from school during peak traffic hours.

Erie High School

  • All entrances to the school parking lot will remain open, with minimal impacts, however, the County Road 5 closure may impact families who live north of Flora View Drive.
  • The main school parking entrance will be accessible for cars traveling north on County Road 5, traveling east on Colliers Parkway, or accessing County Road 5 from Flora View Drive and traveling south.
  • If needed, the Erie Police Department will be on-site to assist with traffic flow and pedestrian safety for students who walk and/or bike to/from school during peak traffic hours.

Please click here for a map of the impacted area and anticipated traffic flows in and out of the school parking lots. This phase of construction is anticipated to last through early May. As we near the second phase of the construction project, we will share additional information about new closures and impacted traffic flows.

Again, thank you for your continued patience and partnership during this time. If you have any questions regarding the construction project or traffic patterns in and out of the school, please reach out to the Town of Erie at [email protected]
