Spring Sports Letter from Mr. Carpenter

Tiger Family:

We would like to enthusiastically welcome you and your family to the spring 2023 athletic season at Erie High School.   During this season we are proud to offer boys lacrosse, girls soccer, girls tennis, girls golf, track and field, and baseball. In addition to these sports, our Erie High School students will participate for Silver Creek High School (boys swimming), Niwot High School (boys volleyball), and Mead High School (girls lacrosse).

Currently, over 350 student athletes have registered for athletics. This equates to 20% of our total student population. Having one out of every five Erie High School students making the choice to extend their school day to participate in athletic activities is a sign of a healthy and thriving school community. This would not be possible without the support and partnership from our parents and coaches alike.

Some helpful reminders as we begin our third and final season in the 2022/2023 school year are as follows:

  • Your child is a person and student first. They are an athlete second.
  • Allow your student athlete to be coached and to potentially fail. Trust that through those failures the Erie High School coaching/ teaching staff will support them to fail forward to create future successes.
  • Allow yourself to assume positive intentions and outcomes in situations.
  • Allow and empower your student athlete to advocate for themselves as this will serve as a life skill that they will need in the future.
  • Remember the purpose of athletic competition is to build and define character traits that will be needed throughout one’s life. Winning is great, but is not the ultimate depictor of our success.
  • Be supportive as a parent by encouraging and acknowledging the time, effort, and energy that your child, their peers, and coaches have dedicated to the sport.
  • It takes a village to be successful. Look for ways to support and volunteer for your child’s teams.

For additional information regarding athletics at Erie High School please click on the attached PRESENTATION. Also, please plan to support Erie Athletics tomorrow (3/2) at MOD Pizza as they will donate 20% of all ticket sales to our department (flyer attached).

I can speak for the rest of our administrative team when saying how excited we are to watch your child compete this spring.   Please do not hesitate to come and introduce yourself to our school administration if you see us covering an event, we would love to meet you or say hello.

GO TIGERS!
