Community Update – May 19, 2023
Dear Erie High School Families,
It was a true pleasure to watch the Erie High School Class of 2023 wrap up their academic year on Wednesday – what an incredible group of young people! They have made a huge impact in our school community, and their growth over the course of this past year – let alone the past 13 years in our schools – has been awesome to observe. I hope that our seniors enjoyed their last few days at Erie High School, and I look forward to continuing to celebrate them throughout the next week.
Last night, we hosted the 2023 Senior Night of Reflection where we honored our seniors for their outstanding work both in and out of the classroom. It was a great night of celebration and an important opportunity for our community to honor the members of the Class of 2023 for their academic and extracurricular achievements as well as their postsecondary plans. One of the highlights for me was the Class of 2023 baby / future plans slideshow – thank you to Mrs. Singh and Mr. Stecina for their hard work and dedication in completing this great presentation! Senior Memory Boards will be on display in the Erie High School Commons from 3 to 4 pm on Monday, May 22nd for seniors and their families to view. You can also view the Senior Memory Boards digitally HERE.
For the members of the Class of 2023, we look forward to Senior Day at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23rd when we will distribute graduation robes and regalia and rehearse for graduation. Once we have completed those two important tasks, we will host our annual senior lunch and lead the graduation walks through Erie High School and our Erie feeder schools. This will be another great chance for us to honor and celebrate our seniors.
Beyond these important senior events, I wish our 9th, 10th, and 11th-grade students a successful conclusion to the school year. This has been a great year of achievement and growth for our students, and it is my best hope that the end of the school year will be a great success. Next week, we will follow our regular schedule on Monday, May 22nd, and then students will complete finals from Tuesday, May 23rd – Thursday, May 25th. Students and families can access our 2023 final exam schedule here. Please note that Tuesday’s finals begin with Blocks 5, 6, & 7.
We have several spring sports programs continuing to compete in the CHSAA postseason. Good luck to the Erie High School Track & Field program in the state meet this weekend, the Erie baseball team in the regional tournament at Chaparral High School on Saturday at 1:00 pm, the boys lacrosse program in the state semifinals at DU on Saturday at 12:30 pm, and our girls golf team in the state regional tournament on Tuesday at 9:00 am! If you would like to attend the lacrosse game on Saturday, we highly recommend that you buy tickets ahead of time. Please click here to access lacrosse online ticket sales and parking information.
It is a great time to be an Erie Tiger – good luck to our students in all of their various endeavors over the course of the next two weeks!
I hope that you and your family have a great weekend. Thank you for your continued support of your child(ren) and our great school!
Sincerely,
Josh Griffin
