Community Update (September 15th, 2023)

Dear Erie High School families,

Thank you for your continued support and partnership in another great week at Erie High School.  Our students continue to thrive both inside and outside the classroom – it has been a pleasure to watch our students continue to excel and achieve in their various endeavors as we proceed through the fall semester.

This week, I attended the first Erie High School Education Foundation meeting of the 2023-2024 school year.  This foundation board of directors is composed of an incredible group of Erie High School students, parents, alumni, and community members focused on supporting Erie High School students and graduates with their postsecondary opportunities.

In 2023, The EHS Education Foundation offered over $85,000 in scholarships to members of the Erie High School Class of 2023 and recent Erie High School graduates.  This generous and robust support of our students – both past and present – is an incredible tribute to the significant impact the Foundation makes in the Erie community.

I encourage the Erie High School Class of 2024 and recent EHS graduates to stay tuned to forthcoming announcements for the application process for the EHS Education Foundation scholarships for this year.  Mark your calendars!  This year, the scholarship application process will run from December 1, 2023 – January 8, 2024.  You can learn more about the Erie High School Education Foundation and its scholarship program on the EHSEF official website.  There are many opportunities for our students to receive financial support for their future studies through the Foundation- whether that may be in a two-year, four-year, or vocational program.

The Foundation is fortunate to have strong partnerships throughout the Erie community, and many individual, private, and corporate benefactors have contributed to the Foundation over the years.  One goal of the Foundation is to ensure its stability and longevity, so that this robust support of our students can continue in perpetuity.  As such, we encourage Erie High School families to consider how you can support this important organization.  There are opportunities for interested individuals to volunteer to support the Foundation and/or contribute financially to its fundraising efforts.  No contribution is too small to benefit our students.  Online donations can be made here.

I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to serve and support the EHS Education Foundation, as it is an organization that works diligently to provide robust opportunities for our students.  This organization, and many others in our community, reflect our shared sense of the value of education and the importance of Erie High School in this community and region.

Thank you for your strong support of your child(ren) and our school.  I hope that you all have a great weekend, and good luck to our Tigers in their various competitions, performances, and community events this weekend!

Sincerely,

Josh Griffin
