Model United Nations

At the beginning of this year students asked for Erie High School to have a Model United Nations club.  These organizations meet across the country and provide students the opportunity to play the role of delegates of various countries who are given an issue to debate and represent the interests of their assigned country.  Students prepare their arguments during a research time prior to their event and then present their argument and actively debate the issue with other delegates representing other countries.

This experience provides students the opportunity to sharpen their logical and persuasive skills while experiencing a real-world simulation including public speaking.

Erie High School's team organized by EHS junior student Seana Fulco and sponsored by EHS English teacher Judy Trinkner recently competed at the University of Colorado in a Model United Nations event and came home with some big wins! Lukas Pelling, in his first ever Advanced Council, an opportunity for the best of the best, won the award for best position paper. YiSha Shen won an Honorable Mention for her work in the General Assembly.  Congratulations to both of these outstanding Erie High School juniors!

We look forward to watching this group's work in future years!
