National Merit Scholar Qualifying Test & Modified Schedule

Dear Students and Families:

Thank you for your continued partnership and flexibility during this challenging time for our community. St. Vrain Valley Schools remains committed to providing postsecondary college and career opportunities that will give students a strong competitive advantage for their future. To this end, St. Vrain is providing the 2020-2021 National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) on October 29, 2020. Each high school will administer the NMSQT to all 11th grade students in person. Thursday, October 29, 2020 will be an asynchronous day of learning at home for students in grades 9, 10, and 12.

Due to last year’s PSAT 10 exams cancellation because of the coronavirus health crisis, the Colorado Department of Education is sponsoring the NMSQT. The PSAT/NMSQT is an opportunity for students to compete for over $30 million in college scholarships, and is an important step in preparing for the SAT exam that will be administered in the spring of their junior year.

Here is a list of approved calculators for this exam.  Make sure you are setting yourself up for success!

If you have any questions about this calendar change or how to help your student prepare for the NMSQT, please contact our counseling office.
