What are the Space Tech Scholars?

Mission Statement:
Our mission is to address the demonstrated need for aerospace professionals in Colorado (and the United States at large), as well as the lack of diversity in this industry. SpaceTech Scholars will increase the recruitment, retention, graduation, and career placement rates of Hispanic and other underrepresented students (i.e., minority, low-income, first-generation, female) as aspiring professionals in the College of Aerospace, Computing, Engineering, and Design (CACED).

First Year Experience (FYE)
FYE is geared towards students interested in aerospace and is open to the entire College of Aerospace, Computing, Engineering, and Design (CACED) . We are looking to support any student with interests adjacent to aerospace no matter the major. This program includes a $1000 scholarship and access to a learning community for all recipients. In this cohort model, students will enroll in 15 credits together throughout the 2023-2024 academic year. These classes are designed to create foundational skills in English and Math, exploratory opportunities in aerospace science, and community building. Application Link and Flyer can be found below:

VUELO 2023
We are offering a Summer Bridge component from July 31st through August 4th to juniors and seniors in high school. VUELO stands for Visiting Undergraduate Exploratory Learning Opportunity and also means flight in Spanish.

Highlighted Features:

  • Introduction to faculty, staff, and industry professionals.
  • Peer mentoring is provided by college students already enrolled in the College of Aerospace, Computing, Engineering, and Design.
  • Participation in hands-on aerospace-focused enrichment activities for the VUELO program.
  • Overview of campus organizations such as CMEI and C2C Hub. CMEI (Center for Multicultural Engagement and Inclusion) houses multiple cultural events, professional development opportunities, and identity-based student organizations. C2C Hub (Classroom to Career Hub) has connections with real-world corporations and industry partnerships to connect students with potential future career fairs, interviews, and internships.
  • $250.00 stipend for completion and participation in the program.
  • Breakfast, lunch, and snacks will be provided.
  • Free On-Campus Parking will be provided.
